Claris Nelson and Marshall Mason » Clowns

1967: Someone wheedled LANFORD WILSON, MARSHALL, DAVID STARKWEATHER, me, and RON LINK (with JAYNE HARRIS) to dress up outrageously and camp all over the stage in CLARIS' The Clown. (Guess how much wheedling it took). MICHAEL WARREN POWELL, creator of our dazzling outfits, was also on hand to provide some actual acting. TOM EYEN expropriated said outfits and dressed dozens of productions in them--until he invented nudity. Photos JAMES D. GOSSAGE.
